A Formal Osun State deputy governor, Prince Adesuyi Haastrup, has revealed what the former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo told him when he asked him (Obasanjo) to withdraw his support for the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi and back the presidential candidate of APC for the 2023 election.
According to him, when I asked Obasanjo to support Tinubu he declined, saying that he has worked for Obi’s success in the South. He made this statement while addressing Ambassadors of Western Powers
In his own words, Adesuyi Haastrup said “During my visit to Papa Obasanjo, I told him support Tinubu, saying that if he wins, he, Tinubu and other Southern Leaders can meet the Northern Leaders for a final settlement between the Igbos and the core North.
“Obasanjo admitted he had worked for Obi’s success in the South-South, South-East, South-west, and Christians in the North but a lot still needed to be done in the core North,” he added

Popular Nollywood actor Tonto Dikeh has commented on the recent arrest of Blessing Nkiruka Okoro, also known as Blessing CEO, a self-described relationship therapist and authority. Remember that Blessing was detained last week by the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) as a result of her involvement in the case involving IVD, a well-known car dealer from Lagos, and his late wife Bimbo Ogbonna.
Blessing was sentenced to jail, where she spent the weekend before being released on bail yesterday for ten million Naira. Tonto Dikeh responded to the situation by saying she has no sympathy for the counsellor because she went too far. She claimed that while anyone could support IVD in silence, it was inappropriate for someone to come out in public and disparage the deceased. The performer feels that Blessing needs to learn a lesson in order to serve as a warning to others.
“I detest seeing people suffer, but this lady (Blessing CEO) needs to learn a lesson.” I saw her berate a dead woman and bring anguish and sorrow to the dead. She needs to experience their anguish as well. I have no sympathy for her. She did everything incorrectly.” She penned a letter.

The Federal Government has declared Friday 7 and Monday 10, April 2023, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.
The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, made the declaration in Abuja in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Shuaib Begore, on Wednesday
Aregbesola urged Christians to emulate the virtues of sacrifice, togetherness, forgiveness, kindness, love, peace and patience which were attributes and practices of Jesus Christ, as exemplified by His ministry on the earth.
The minister called on Christians and all Nigerians to use the occasion of this year’s Easter celebration to pray for an end to the security challenges in parts of the country.
Aregbesola assured that the Federal Government is doing all that is necessary to ensure a peaceful transition of government following the peaceful conduct of elections
While wishing Christians at home and in the diaspora a happy and peaceful Easter celebration, the minister also enjoined them to love their neighbours through acts of kindness and generosity of spirit, with the well-to-do sharing their substance with the less privileged around them.
Aregbesola once more assures Nigerians that the nation is persistently on the path to greatness and urges all to positively deploy their creative energy for the full realisation of the coming prosperity.
He added: “Security is everybody’s business. I, therefore, urge Nigerians and foreigners resident in our country to display a high sense of citizenship and public spiritedness by supporting the efforts of all security agencies in bringing peace and security of lives and property of the citizenry”.

Residents of Ondo State within the range of taxable adults were on Tuesday urged to pay an annual education levy as part of efforts to effectively fund the education sector in the state.
According to the state government, the fund will go a long way in supporting the administration through the State Education Endowment Fund.
Chairman of the Board of the Ondo State Education Endowment Fund, Oseef, Akinsola Akinfenwa, disclosed that with one million adults targeted, the sum of N1 billion would be realized through the fund.
Akinfenwa, who was represented by the Commissioner for Education, Pastor Olufemi Agagu, at the unveiling of the Education Endowment Fund, stated that the levy was implemented following a change to the OSEEF statue in 2022.
The purpose of the charge, according to Agagu, was to create a fund that was separate from regular government subventions and could be used to upgrade the school system in the state
Agagu stressed that taxable individuals in the state would be encouraged to make contributions to the fund based on their financial capabilities.
He added that the two percent deduction made on contracts awarded in the state already generates N500m for the fund each year.
According to the Education Commissioner, the state currently funds 1,285 public primary schools, 308 public secondary schools, five public technical colleges, two public innovation centers, four special schools, three public universities, one public polytechnic, and one public college of health technology
“Considering the number of schools the government needs to finance, aside from other sectors, funding education must be a collective responsibility.
“Proposed areas of intervention include provision of relevant instructional materials and books for schools in the state, improvement of infrastructural facilities in schools, improvement of the quality of education through capacity building, improvement of science, technical, and vocational education, and provision of library facilities in schools, among others.”

No fewer than ten students have been kidnapped by bandits in the Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
The State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan confirmed this in a statement on Monday, where he revealed that the students were from the government secondary school Awon (day secondary school).
The Commissioner also explained that the exact location of the incident is yet to be confirmed, but said that detailed reports are being awaited to clarify the abduction of the students occurred within the school premises or elsewhere
